MEET THE FOUNDERS

Hi, I’m Christina.

When I moved to Singapore a few years ago, I started to deeply miss the Fuzhounese dishes I grew up with. In a world obsessed with innovation, the recipes of our childhood were quietly slipping away. I realized that if we didn’t actively preserve these traditions, they will fade away alongside our elders.

I started Chenzi to hold onto that heritage, beginning with our ultimate comfort food: the potato ball dumpling. It’s the chewier, naturally gluten-free cousin of the dumpling, deeply tied to our family’s roots in the mountainous region of Changle in Fuzhou, China.

To make sure this regional dish survives, my brother, Bryan, and I are doing this together. While my focus is on preserving the soul and history of our culture, Bryan is the flavor explorer of the family. He is the one in the kitchen obsessing over exactly why certain ingredients and textures work so beautifully together. His mission is to ensure our potato ball dumplings stay fiercely authentic to our roots, while elevating them for the modern palate.

In Chinese, 陳子 Chen zi translates to "Chen kids." We aren't just making food; we're making sure our elders' traditions live on. We're just two siblings passing down a legacy, and we'd be honored to share a piece of our history with you.
