re some details:

🗓 Preorders open Thursday, November 13th at hotplate.com/chenzi
📍 Pickup: Thursday, November 20th between 1–5PM @ Welcome to Chinatown (115 Bowery)

I started Chenzi to preserve underrepresented dishes that risk disappearing as elders age. And when we talk about preserving legacy, we’re not only talking about recipes; we’re talking about the communities that hold them.

The holiday season can be especially hard for many, and food insecurity continues to impact too many neighbors. This is our small way of showing up: to share comfort, care, and a taste of something that feels like home 🥣

Once Upon a Thread: Viet Fairytale Fashion & Music Event

Come join us for "Once Upon a Thread," an original Vietnamese fashion show gallery and screening of LexyNiso's Asian New York Fashion Week debut! Set to a fairytale theme, this will be a magical night featuring Lexy's fashion collection alongside an original music score by local Vietnamese composer Hao Le and a hand-drawn animation by Mary Chen. All three have poured so much of their heart into this project, and they can't wait to share with everyone!

Hosted by the Vietnamese Creative Society and Welcome to Chinatown , this also marks the 1 year anniversary of VCS — a full circle moment given our very first event was a fashion and music show!

Snacks are being generously provided by Chenzi who will be making Fuzhou potato dumplings with Vietnamese-inspired dipping sauces.

Conversations around comfort foods

Conversations around comfort foods

🍁 Fall is arriving the way it always does in New York — slowly, strangely, a little unsure of itself. The air cools, yet the city still hums warm. Somewhere in that in-between, Chenzi finds its way to Hi:en From Vietnam — through community, chance, and the kind of quiet friendship that unfolds over time.

🍑 Both of us come from far away, though our paths once crossed in Georgia — a small coincidence that feels like fate when you think about it. The conversation between our kitchens began softly: about food that feels like family, recipes passed by memory, and the art of making things by hand — a little imperfect, perfectly so.

🫕 Chenzi brings the Fuzhou-style potato balls their family grew up eating — chewy, savory, humble in appearance yet rich with care.

☕️ Hi:en From Vietnam carries a similar heartbeat — born from the taste of strong coffee, the warmth of shared meals, and the dream of belonging somewhere between old roots and new beginnings.

🌖 The evening will unfold over tea — slow, fragrant, steady — a quiet companion to the meal and to the stories that find their way between bites.
It’s not about presentation. It’s about comfort — the kind that lingers softly, like warmth after rain.

🪂 Come if you can.
Something here might remind you of home — even if you’re far from it.
